Yoga
Jacqueline Michelle began practicing yoga at the age of 15 in her hometown of Sydney, Australia. At the time, she was balancing life as a high school student and working model, and yoga became a grounding force in the midst of a fast-paced lifestyle. After moving to Los Angeles, she was introduced to Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga and soon after met her husband and spiritual partner, Govind Das.
Although her life was full of exciting opportunities, Jacqueline was quietly navigating deep inner challenges around self-acceptance and self-love. With Govind Das’s support, she began a journey inward—training to become a yoga teacher and diving more deeply into the path of Bhakti Yoga. She went on to teach at Power Yoga, lead private sessions, and offer weekly classes at Sony Pictures Entertainment for over a decade.
In 2009, Jacqueline and Govind Das co-founded Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, California. Their vision was to create a sacred space rooted in Bhakti—the yoga of love and devotion. Over the years, the studio became a spiritual home to many and hosted renowned teachers and musicians such as Krishna Das, Shiva Rea, Jai Uttal, Shyam Das, and more.
In 2020, as the world shifted, so did their offerings. Jacqueline and Govind Das transitioned Bhakti Yoga Shala from a physical studio to a vibrant online platform, continuing to serve their community in new ways. Today, they offer weekly outdoor classes on a deck nestled in Topanga Canyon among the gum trees, as well as online sessions for students around the world.
Jacqueline continues to teach private yoga and integrates the practice deeply into her daily sadhana. She holds deep gratitude for the teachers who have walked the path before her and continue to inspire her journey, including her husband Govind Das, Neem Karoli Baba, Ram Dass, Jai Uttal, Shiva Rea, Krishna Das, Bryan Kest, Elena Brower, and many others.
